so im new to these forums and im not good with cars i dnt work on them or nothing. my stepdad is a mechanic but only on fords. when it comes to chevys i might as well have an import. anyway. my problem is that my security light came on in my dash & im worried. i googled it but i didnt get a straight answer. it still starts and runs just fine. i just want to know if there is something i can do or something my stepdad can do to fix it. from what google said it could be caused by removing the battery. well i did have a new battery installed a little over a month ago but the light came on a few days ago. could that be the reason?? any help is welcomed. thanks in advance.

Is it flashing or on steady. Everything i found said the car wouldn't start but you said its running fine. I'm not really sure what to tell you. Might need to stop by a mechanic and see if they can suggest something. Maybe hit a local parts store and and see if they would code scan it for you. Also look for a 'Chilton' manual. Its a good DIY book that might be able to walk you through some basic stuff.

Mine is on and steady. From what I read when it's flashing the car won't run. But mine is running fine.

Hopefully it is a short or a connection that's come undone. I just got home & my stepdad has a device that can pull codes to see what's wrong so tomorrow I'll hopefully know what's wrong
