My 91 camaro has a 305 in it, and I am just looking to squeeze out a bit more hp. I have read some stuff online about blocking the EGR valve, but everyone has different opinions of it and if its safe of doing so. Some people swear by it, others think its stupid.

Anybody have some good input?

I'm not sure you will get much power from it. Basically you would be blocking off an emissions tool. The EGR pumps some exhaust back into the intake. I think it raises the temps to get a hotter (cleaner) burn. You stop this from happening and the intake temp will be a little cooler, but I'm not sure its worth that much power. One thing to check on is if that affects the computer. I'm not sure there is much tuning SW for the ODB1 systems.

hmm well ironically, a few days ago my check engine light was on, so I took it to my buddy's house to hook up to the computer. And you wouldn't believe what it was.... my egr valve =/ so I am probably going to rip it out anyway. But I am going to do a bit more research on it. I wish I could rip out the cat too, but I know the engine needs some back pressure, is there anyway around that? Could I get away with just a muffler or glass-packs, or is that not enough?

Also I was wondering about tbi spacers. Do those even help? There are many mixed reviews on those too. I mean for a $110 it should be worth it right? (I am still in the process of learning about my car)

You can get high flow cats and even off road (straight pipes) mids. If you have stock opipes you might want to look into a catback. They just will flow better than anything you can add to the stock systems.

TBI spacers are a hit or miss. On newer engines they do nothing. On an older carb system they helps some because they make the intake plenum seem bigger. Hard to tell what it would do on yours. Does the 91 have a top mounted TBI (fuel injection that looks like a carb) or is it a TPI that has the throttle body mounted sideways facing forward.
