i have a 89 rs with a 5 spd manul trans.. replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump " which was a pain i might add" same prob..drive 5 miles or so and it dies ..no fuel.. has fire but no fuel ..sit 5 mins it might start pumping some times it has to sit all night..any ideals on what might be the prob .. plz help..

Have you checked the fuel pressure going to the engine? The gauges are super easy to read, if it has little or no pressure, check the fuse/ replace it.

oh my god i hated replacing that damn thing.....
all i can think of is that you might have a clogged line or a kink somewhere?
i havent had this problem (surprise suprise)

our cars dont have a gauge

Is it carbed or TBI/EFI? carb is easy to check for fuel getting it and you should have a port to check on the injected systems

if its injected there is a nut on the feed line and if you loosen it, fuel will spray out if its pressurized. youll want to turn the ignition on first to pressurize the system first.
