They are not inexpensive. You can buy a short block or one fully assemble. You will need a different transmission to handle the power also. The one from the V6 will not work. This is a major upgrade to replace the powertrain of a vehicle. Were you going to it yourself or have a shop do it? johnnyblaze 02-10-2008, 09:17 PM im not sure i might do it myself but not sure because i dont know how expensive it would be do you know where specifically i could find one jimmyc96z28 04-29-2011, 02:35 PM Swaping your 3.8 for an lt1 is actualy a pretty big task. You might be better off looking for a Z28. There are aftermarket parts that you would need for the swap that are available from several companies. However, The lt1 swap parts would cost almost the same as ls engine swap parts. I own a 96 z28 and I personaly would much rather have an Ls. Wich ever route you decide to go there are kits available to ease the process. Spohn Performance is one company that sells kits. As for the engine... you can always find engines on Ebay. They have many Built Crate engines available and usualy alot of engines that where working when pulled. they usually have some sort of limited warrenty and sometimes the engine comes with the nessicary pcm, wiring, and Transmission. If its more power you crave, those 3.8's are actually pretty good lil engines. You might look into just building it. |
