Hi: My name is Juan A. Gonzalez. I own a 1997 SS white/ Orange stripes lt1 Camaro with a 6 speed transamission, I bought it with 5000 miles in 1998, I have 66,000 miles on it now. I am looking to upgrade the engine with a bigger throttle body, a Vortex supercharger and other components to make it perform, any imputs will be appreciated, thanks

what are your goals? If just add the charger i would do hooker headers and get a 52mm tb. If you really want to see a difference, change the cam with 1.6 rockers and have the car retuned for what you have done. I was into ATI for a while but i changed to StS. I have a 97 SS 6spd also. Love it to death....!:D I would also consider a brake upgrade to slow the monster down. The C5 upgrade is fairly cheap but very effictive. But remember all you're doing is playing "the weakest link". You'll know what to upgrade next when it breaks......:)

Doing a V6 to LT1 swap is more money and more trouble than what it's worth. Best bet is to sell the V6 and buy a Z28 or SS with the LT1.

:3-smash:In the past I owned a souped up Porsche Targa and other fast cars. My chevy is as fast of faster than any of the old cars and I bought it new in October of1994. I live in Jupiter FL and am constantly upgrading the Z28. My next upgrade will be a preferred knock sensor for the LT4.part no. is 16214681 because it is slightly de-tuned and i am getting false knock from the LT headers and the roller rockers. Last dyno tune was 378 rear wheel horse power. Still origional after 148,000 miles are: clutch, paint, engine bottom end, rings, interior and 6 spd tranny. just about all else has beeen upgraded.

Super charging these engines or Turbocharging the is risky. They have high compression that works against the huffers. A better and cheaper idea that works is nitros...either dry or wet. My car has an extra 78 hp from just bolt-ons. I reworke the heads and added the LT4 cam for another 35 rear wheel horses with the help of a dyno tuner.
