Guys, girls, whoever else is reading this...

I am from england, just moved over to connecticut 3 months or so ago. Obviously, aside from the job I was offered, a major pull was to able get my hands on a v8...

It took me a while, especially with my limited budget, but I managed to find a 1991 camaro z28 with a 305 tpi engine and a manual transmission. I bought it off a great couple, who have looked after it really well and only put 55k on it. As a result I am the happiest bloke around, the car is fantastic and sounds incredible (especially since I had a little exhaust work done...).

But I have a problem, I really want to remove the 17 year old airbag (and steering wheel), it has been baking in the sun for the entirety of its life and the warped nature of the airbag cover doesnt give me too much confidence in how well the airbag would perform in an accident, that is if it doesnt just punch me hard in the face 5 minutes after a collision.

However, because of federal law, grant dont make an adaptor kit for this car because they cant let people remove an airbag... surely someone out there will be able to point me in the right direction so I can find an adaptor for an equivalent car that will work, or some company that does make them?

Please please please!

Thankyou.

Peter

Welcome to the forumZ. Since your camaro is a 1991 give me a couple of days to check somethings regarding airbags and the rights of a car owner.
